Position Summary: Thermo Fisher Scientific has an excellent opportunity for a result driven qualified accountant to join the Global Business Services Record to Report team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a rapidly growing Shared Service Centre an organisation considered a global leader in its field. The Centre covers entities with an annual revenue of approximately $13 Billion and supports the Life Sciences Solutions Group (LSG), Special Diagnostics Group (SDG) and Analytical Instruments Group (AIG) of Thermo Fisher Scientific. Reporting to the Senior Manager RTR, the role will be responsible for the people management of the Financial Accounting team, responsible for the financial accuracy of a number of legal entities. The role requires deep understanding of the financial accounting. It must provide a high standard of business partnering to various functions outside of finance. The manager will be responsible for a team, so experience in people leading is preferable. The successful candidate must be high-potential, prepared to ensure the team delivers accurate and timely reporting results. They must be assured at working in a large multi-national; complex structure with the ability to prioritise and follow through in a fast-paced, multitask environment. Excellent communication and business partnering skills will be expected, as you will be the key contact for internal stakeholders.   Responsibilities: • Oversee the timeliness and accuracy of US GAAP financial reporting. • Mentor, coach and develop the team of finance professionals and driving a performance and customer first culture. • Key contact for the business stakeholders, including on projects and initiatives as required by working closely with other GBS departments and functions (i.e. Legal entity rationalization / productivity optimization). • Chair monthly business reviews with stakeholders • Perform balance sheet deep dives and present outcomes to stakeholders • Ensure financial compliance and SOX control measures required are executed without exception • Deliver operational excellence • Lead, promote and drive a PPI culture in the team, taking accountability for the delivery of projects feeding into the annual productivity targets Minimum Requirements/Qualifications: • Qualified Accountant (CA, CIMA or ACCA) • Comfortable communicating with and presenting to various stakeholders • People Management experience • Able to organise and prioritise multiple complex situations • Accuracy is required in performing all aspects of the role • High level of proactivity to drive continuous improvement • Deep technical accounting expertise • Strong investigative, analytical and problem solving skills • Solid understanding of US GAAP (Desired but not crucial) As the world leader in serving science, our work is more than something that fills our days.
