S&OE Lead

Huntsman is seeking a S&OE Lead supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in San Jose, Costa Rica. This position will report to the S&OP Manager.

Job Scope

The Planning Team Lead is responsible for managing and developing a team of Network Planners and Production Planners to ensure seamless execution of supply chain planning processes. This role ensures alignment of demand, supply, inventory, and production activities across the organization. The Team Lead drives operational excellence, ensures adherence to planning standards, and supports strategic initiatives within the end to end planning function.

This leader plays a key role in connecting production scheduling, distribution planning, replenishment, and inventory management across multiple business units and plants.

In summary, as the S&OE Lead, you will:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and mentor a team of Network Planners and Production Planners, providing coaching, performance management, and skills development.

  • Align team priorities with business needs, ensuring effective workload distribution and cross training.

  • Foster collaboration across planning, manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and commercial teams.

Network Planning Oversight

  • Oversee resolution of conflicts between forecast and sales orders at distribution sites.

  • Ensure accurate creation and management of stock transport orders.

  • Guide planners in reviewing exceptions, material availability, and replenishment needs across all distribution nodes.

  • Support inventory target setting, working capital initiatives, and network optimization discussions.

  • Ensure end to end visibility of flows from production facilities through distribution centers.

Production Planning Oversight

  • Ensure monthly and weekly production plans and schedules are developed accurately and on time.

  • Oversee maintenance of production planning models, spreadsheets, and planning system data.

  • Ensure planners coordinate effectively with plant operations, quality, warehouse, and traffic scheduling teams.

  • Support production slate adjustments, capacity evaluations, and long range production plans.

Cross Functional Integration

  • Serve as the bridge between Demand Planning, Master Planning, Production, Logistics, Procurement, and Customer Service.

  • Drive alignment across S&OP/SIOP cycles by ensuring accurate inputs from both network and production planning teams.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing to address capacity constraints, outages, material shortages, and schedule changes.

Continuous Improvement & Systems

  • Promote standardization of planning processes across the team (production, network, and material flows).

  • Lead or support digital transformation initiatives within planning (automation, data analytics, KPI dashboards).

  • Ensure data accuracy and parameter maintenance in SAP/MRP systems.

  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements across planning workflows.

Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in Costa Rica.

Candidates must be willing to work on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at our office located in AFZ, Heredia. Additional office days may be required as needed or during corporate visits.

Minimum Qualifications

Education required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, Operations, or related field.
  • 5+ years of relevant planning experience (network, production, supply planning).

Skills and knowledge

  • Strong knowledge of planning processes: MRP, DRP, production scheduling, inventory planning, replenishment logic.

  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing planners or cross functional teams.

  • Ability to interpret large datasets and guide team decision making.

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

  • Strong problem solving capabilities under time sensitive conditions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in SAP or similar ERP platforms.

  • Experience with Power BI (PBI) for dashboarding, KPI reporting, and decision support analytics.

  • Experience with automation tools such as Power Automate, macros, or workflow automation to improve planner productivity.

  • Prior leadership or team lead experience strongly preferred.

  • APICS/ASCM certifications (CPIM, CSCP) are a plus.

  • Experience in chemical or manufacturing environments preferred.
